Tocqueville Gold Fund

Fund Objective

To achieve long-term capital appreciation 

Investment Strategy

  • Invest at least 80% of net assets, plus borrowings for investment purposes, in gold and other precious metals and the securities of US and foreign companies engaged in mining or processing gold
  • Employ a bottom-up selection process and fundamental, proprietary research to identify companies that are considered undervalued, based on growth potential and the portfolio manager’s assessment of the company’s relative value
  • Seek exposure to overlooked and undervalued gold stocks across the world

John Hathaway
, Co-Portfolio Manager

Mr. Hathaway, CFA, Senior Managing Director, is a Portfolio Manager at Tocqueville Asset Management L.P. Mr. Hathaway is a Portfolio Manager of the Tocqueville Gold Fund, Tocqueville Gold Partners and the gold equity strategy. Prior to joining Tocqueville in 1997, he was the Chief Investment Officer at Oak Hall Advisors for seven years and in 1986 founded and managed Hudson Capital Advisors. Previously, Mr. Hathaway was a Partner at David J. Greene and Company and an Equity Analyst with Spencer Trask & Co. He has an M.B.A. from the University of Virginia and a B.A. from Harvard College.

Douglas B. Groh
, Co-Portfolio Manager

Douglas B. Groh is a Portfolio Manager and Senior Research Analyst at Tocqueville Asset Management L.P. He joined Tocqueville in 2003, where he is a Portfolio Manager of the Tocqueville Gold Fund. Prior to joining Tocqueville, Mr. Groh was Director of Investment Research at Grove Capital from 2001 to 2003 and from 1990 to 2001 held investment research and banking positions at J.P. Morgan, Merrill Lynch and ING Bank. Mr. Groh began his career as a mining and precious metals analyst in 1985 at U.S. Global Investors. Mr. Groh earned a B.S. in Geology and Geophysics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and an M.A. from the University of Texas at Austin, where he focused on mineral economics.

Tim Steele is an artist living in New York City and the founder of Tim Steele Design. As a career artist, he has also expanded into the related disciplines of interior design and contemporary structures. 
 

With solo and group exhibitions spanning 20 years, Tim’s abstract pieces are shown in galleries, public spaces and in private collections around the world. An extension of his painting, his interior work includes NYC apartments, private homes, executive offices and entire commercial floors. With an interest in utilizing recycled and new materials, Tim is also creating modular structures that are based on shipping containers.
